Vancouver must oppose this polluting LNG project

After a devastating summer of heatwaves and wildfires, OneCity Councillor Christine Boyle is asking her colleagues to support her in opposing the expansion of a liquefied natural gas plant in Delta.

FortisBC wants to expand its Tilbury LNG plant on the Fraser River, an existing storage facility for backup supply for Metro Vancouver. Now the company plans to use it to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) abroad. With nearly 2,000 fracking wells needed to supply the project, the Tilbury expansion would create as much carbon pollution per year as the entire City of Vancouver, and undermine regional air quality objectives.

Vancouver must oppose this polluting LNG project

Tilbury LNG on the Fraser River could create as much carbon pollution as Vancouver, because new fracking wells in the province’s northeast would supply the gas. In a few weeks, Council will vote on whether to join our neighbours in Richmond and Port Moody in opposition to the project. Will you send a letter and tell them to speak out against Tilbury LNG?
